StrePla can display both vector maps as well as raster
maps.
Raster maps
The raster maps, also called bitmaps, are scanned in several scales. Scanned maps are scanned in several zoom steps. In these steps the maps have the greatest focus. In between these steps, the maps are arbitrarily
zoomable , but the contrast and resolution is a little worse in these intermediate stages.
The raster maps are compatible with the motor flight planning program
Flightplanner. The Flightplanner's and
StrePla's licensing model allows glider pilots, who are also motor pilots, to have to buy these maps only once. They
can be used both in the Flightplanner and in pocket*StrePla
Available are:
Vector maps
The vector maps do not require as much memory on the
hard drive and are zoomable in arbitrary steps. The possibility to fade certain objects in and out is given with the vector
maps. The
DCW vector maps are available free of charge almost all over the
world.
